What a wonderful gift from God this little baby is! I feel very blessed to have her in my life. As I traveled from Billings MT to Bozeman MT to meet her for the first time, I had a whirlwind of feelings surging through my body. I felt great happiness but a tinge of sadness as well. I no longer have a little girl. My daughter is now a mother and will soon be celebrating her very first Mothers Day Her priorities have now shifted to that of being a mentor and a provider for this tiny gem.
I look forward to sharing nights with this little one. Wearing funny jammies and eating popcorn while watching silly movies on the TV. I wonder how she will react when I have to use the dreaded "no" or how I will react when she asks, standing in a stubborn stance, "Grandma! Why do I always have to do what you say?" I look forward to sloppy kisses and warm hugs. I await the times I will have phone calls with a little voice on the end telling me "I love you Grandma!" I will cherish every scribble that I receive and may have to buy a bigger refrigerator to tape them all too!
For now, I am happy with pictures received over the cell phone and the little coos and cry's I hear when I call my daughter. I am convinced she will be a wonderful mother who will teach, protect, care for and love this precious child from God. I only hope that I can be blessed with plenty of time to watch her grow into the amazing young woman that I know she will be.
